The Pennington County GOP is pleased to announce that Karli Healey, a senior at Black Hills State University, is spending the fall 2024 semester at the county office as our Mass Communications and Campus Outreach intern.

About Me: “I am thrilled to have been selected as the county party’s first-ever Mass Communication and Campus Outreach Intern. In this role, I will be at the helm of developing and executing initiatives that will impact regional politics in the Black Hills for decades to come. My academic background and practical experience in revitalizing College Republicans chapters has prepared me for this position. I led the initiative to rebuild our chapter at BHSU, and organized a cross-state communication network to revive our sister chapters at SDSU and SD Mines by recruiting new leadership teams. It has been rewarding to play my part in a growing movement of young people who are harnessing the power of their voices by actively participating in local and state politics.”

I’m majoring in Mass Communications with a focus on Journalism and double minoring in Political Science and Business Communications. I plan to study abroad in Europe to complete my International Relations certificate before graduating. Since starting college in Fall ’20 , I have been an honor roll student engaged in extracurricular activities such as College Republicans, Student Senate, ROTC, and state legislative internships. My interests include neoclassical art, researching Western history, tracing genealogy, and learning about cultures from around the world. In my free time, my husband and I are co-authoring a science fiction novel together. We relocated to his first duty station at Ellsworth AFB in ’19. We bought a house a year later, and called Rapid City our new home. Currently, we’re both full-time students who are passionate about making a difference in our community.”
