Reflections on the State Central Committee Meeting on February 9th and 10th:
Friday evening, we met for a social and it was very nice. 3 hours dedicated to getting to know one another and share ideas and concerns. The getting to know one another was very nice. Then at about 8:00 pm quite a few people gathered in the meeting room for prayer. Yes, We Did. PUC commissioner, Kristie Fiegen and I had gotten together on that idea and made it happen. We were surprised at how many showed up to pray.
We started Saturday with Breakfast together and got to work about 9:00 am.
After some general housekeeping we heard reports from Governor Noem and PUC Commissioners Kristie Fiegen and Chris Nelson. We heard from Attorney General Marty Jackley and Commissioner of School and Public Lands Brock Greenfield. We also heard from National Committeeman, Ried Holien and National Committeewoman Sandye Kading. And of course, we heard from the Chair John Wiik. We learned of the addition of Reggie Rhoden as the new admin.
There were some contentious moments but not as many as the last meeting. There were a few very solid united votes. A By-Laws committee was announced by the Chair. Your chair is one of the members of that committee. I will do my best to make sure all concerns are heard.
I would say one of the most unanimous votes was to sever ties with the company owned by the writer of Dakota War College. This is largely due to the attacks on Republicans in his blog. No money will go through SDGOP accounts to his account.
I wish I could tell you every detail but it would be an information overload.
Here are some important POINTS:
• The State convention will be in Pierre June 6, 7 & 8 at the Ramkota. Rooms will be available May 1st.
• This will be a few days after the Primary so we will train ALL Precinct Committee Candidates as if they have won before the Primary.
• There will be a Regional Meeting after our county Meeting for National Delegate Selection. More on that Later, but it is in May.
• The National Delegate selection meeting for Pennington County is April 20, at the Ramkota in Rapid City. We will select 3 Republicans from Pennington County to be considered at a Regional Meeting in May. Then our Region will select delegates and alternates for the National Convention in Milwaukee, WI. On July 15-18, 2024.
If you are interested in being one of those delegates let the office know by email or phone.
